“I Thought You Knew” addresses the consequences of making bad decisions. Deception within relationships; men on the down-low; the perils of cheating; and the dangers of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).

More than just entertainment, “I Thought You Knew” is part of a serious effort dedicated to raising awareness about the life-altering affects of HIV and AIDS. The small community of friends in the film represents the larger community of cities, suburbs, and inner cities throughout America. The film also is inspired by the director’s father, who died from AIDS. The film is Directed by Nicole Alexander Dennison, and Director of photography Yahya Clinton. Leading man Bruce Blackshear and Melissa Chambers brings the film to life as they uncover the realism of poor sexual choices which results in detrimental effects on their health and well-being.
